I had suffered from back and hip pain for a very long time and I had been recommended by physiotherapists and chiropractors to take part in Pilates classes to help with my problems. Pilates, in my mind, was way too easy so I never paid it much attention. I have 2nd Dan black belt in Karate and tough and full on training was what I liked. A few years back I decided to take a Pilates instructor course and by that help my self to manage my pain. After doing the training and going to classes my back pain improved rapidly. I also was quite wrong about Pilates: It is not easy. It is challenging, but in a gentle way, and shows quick results.
Posture is a very important element in keeping a healthy body. With my background in Sports Massage Therapy I have a big interest in my clients wellbeing and correct performance of exercises. Pilates can help improve posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility, as well as relieving stress and tension. For athletes Pilates can complement their training by developing whole body strength and flexibility and help reduce the risk of injury. My Pilates classes at Abhyasa are relaxed, challenging and good fun for men and women of all abilities.
